DEAR VE here is a good idea
Please put up some harder stuff. I know you dont like to because it scares away new climbers if there is hard stuff up. But now the strong climbers dont come because there is no hard stuff up. As of right now 5-14-08 there is only 2 5.12's up in the gym. It is very hard for me and other climbers to get strong for Nationals with very limited hard routes. You may say how will new climbers get strong with only hard routes up, and i say how will they ever get better with only 5.10's up and 1 or 2 5.11's. I am not saying only have hard stuff up but try to do a better job of putting up a equal number of easy and HARD routes. This is how i feel and i know i am not alone.

Re: DEAR VE here is a good idea
you have to realize its hard for someone to put up a 5.13 or so when most of the people who route set are only climbing 5.11 or 5.12... the difference between the grades you want up and the grades most of the route setters climb is a great difference so for them to set that high will be hard. even though you, alex, are hella strong and getting stronger, you cant honesly start demanding harder routes considering this fact that we honeslty cant keep up with you... i have to be honest right now and tell you that you have to start making OUTDOOR climbing trips to improve your climbing ability. ENOUGH of you makin climbing trips to other gyms!!!.. outdoor climbing will make you more stronger than ANY gym climbing will... you cant start demanding harder gyms routes to help yourself improve. and i know we COULD set some 5.13s BUT they will be hella awkward and will not be good routes... I have seen it in the bouldering cave... someone who climbs v3 trying to set a v6 will end up setting crap in the end cause it will be just a shitty problem. in other words, I admit have tried to set higher that what i climb and it turns out kinda bad... so dont start demanding spiderman strong routes for you to train on.
and honeslty this is a gym that is not full of alex johnsons and a bunch of routes that are at your level will not benefit the other 99.99% of the climbers at VE... they will jst end up being waste of space for the rest of us... routes at your level will not benefit the gym whatsoever and will end up hurting the gyms amount of people who come in to climb... and that is me being completely honest

Re: DEAR VE here is a good idea
and another thing is... you get a lot stronger if you pull quantity more than you pull the difficulty... inn other words a very effective way to train for anything is to do a lot of weaker routes... for example... if you can pull 5.12s, doing a lot of 5.11s will make you improve a great deal.

Re: DEAR VE here is a good idea
sometimes i put on women's panties and dance around singing La Bamba... all the while thinking about men... is that far enough or should I continue further? Also, who is rufio? Besides a turned on gentleman that apparently can't set very hard without making his route awkward?

Re: DEAR VE here is a good idea
bill i never said set 5.13's, that would be nice though. I am saying set some more 5,12's, it really cant be that hard. I mean Ve is a climbing gym, they should be able to produce climbing routes. If i climbed at the YMCA that would be different, but i am only asking for some more 5.12's.

Re: DEAR VE here is a good idea
alex i say we join the YMCA and train together! what do ya think my friend? I also have noticed that they are starting to put little plastic climbing holds as latters in playgrounds to get to the slides, etc. I'm sure we can come up with some type of elimanates to get the difficulty up to a nationals training difficulty you're looking for. P.S. i dont know why your name on here is mr. spiderman... clearly it should be steroids. give into your alterego my friend. Also. think about the YMCA thing. i really think we can take it to the next level there.
