Re: New Ve Bouldering Routes
I think that V0 is roughly mid 5.10 and V5 is like mid 5.12, but I'm just going from memory so someone could certainly look around (on the interwebs) and find some better info. I'm just going to throw some grades out there; keep in mind though that I could also be completely off on these grades. Add your input folks, that way we can get a consensus going. Also, I'm probably missing a bunch of problems so don't bite my head off if I forget one.
V0-V1: purple on white cross(left side of cave), pink on purple (right side/corner by flat wall), neon yellow on royal blue (left side),
V2: circuit (starts left side, more like a route than boulder problem though), purple on pink cross (back wall by door), light blue (left side, maybe a bit harder?),
V3: neon green (starts on big yellow side pull to right of door), black on light pink cross (V3+?), white on teal,
V4: orange dash on royal blue, royal blue (back wall towards right corner, easier for short people I think), black on orange (left wall, could be easier for tall folks?), purple (back wall),
V5:
V6:
V7: white on purple (set and grade suggested by James),
V8/"I can't climb it yet so I can't really say": black on white (left wall, starts matched on pinch, none of this "jumping off the ground to start" business), neon yellow on black (starts on two marginal holds by door),
I'm getting hungry and cranky so I'm just going to stop here. Obviously this list is incomplete and I forgot a ton of stuff, I hope people chime in and add to it as well as put forth their suggestions on already listed stuff.
We really should get some sort of system figured out at VE, even if it's just a loose "easy, medium, hard" type of grading. Lots of people ask about the problems, especially out-of-towners or people new to bouldering. I think a system like that would encourage more new people to actually boulder, since folks could then actually pick out things that they could do/work on (as opposed to now where they come in and flail on random stuff, get disgruntled, and leave after 5 min.).

Re: New Ve Bouldering Routes
an idea could be that all the easy problems have a like a purple color with a random color cross... then intermediate rating should have a red base with a random cross and Hard should be black with a random cross
Purple V0-V2
Red V3-V5
Black V6+
it would make things a lot easier to direct people.... cause i am defidentally sick of people fumbling around on a freakin v7 after they couldnt finish a 5.9 and then getting annoyed...
Guy tells me today "so what is this? i always see someone PLAYING around in here... whats the point?"... As i think *throw him on the ground ... IM WORKING MY ASS OF HERE AND YOU CALL IT PLAYING! IMMA GO TUG ON YOUR ROPE AS YOU CLIMB NEXT TIME AND ASK YOU "WHATS THE POINT?" lol i would have thought that if he didnt use the word "Playing"

Re: New Ve Bouldering Routes
That's a pretty good idea Bill, although some people are always going to be, how do we say...stupid as hell? They probably wouldn't know what the crosses were for if the base color was the same for a lot of problems. Maye if we used a scale where the lighter the tape color was, the easier the problem is? Who knows. I also think VE needs to invest in a wider range of colors as far as duct tape, as well as higher quality stuff.
PS - Bill, did you work on your wall today? I realized that I only have lanky Bill's number and not yours. I want to climb on some 45!
